Mark Grossman for Patchogue-Medford Board of Education

About Mark

I’ve spent much of my career in public service, education, and communications, and I’ve seen firsthand how important strong, steady leadership is—especially in our schools.

Mark Grossman

A lifelong commitment to public service

I previously served on the Board of Education in the South Country School District in the early 2000s. That experience gave me a clear understanding of the responsibilities of the role, the challenges school districts face, and the importance of thoughtful, informed decision-making.

Serving on a school board is not easy work. But it is some of the most meaningful public service I’ve been part of.

Family

A personal stake in our schools

This is not abstract for me.

I am a proud grandfather of two boys, including one who attends Tremont Elementary School. I care deeply about the kind of schools my grandchildren—and all of our children—deserve.

One of the things I value most about this district is its diversity. Our schools reflect the community we live in, and that creates an environment where students learn from one another and gain a broader understanding of the world.

Service

Public service and professional experience

I am a public relations consultant and an adjunct professor. For nearly two decades I have taught communications at Nassau and Suffolk community colleges.

Earlier in my career, I worked in government, where I gained additional experience in public policy, budgeting, and community engagement. I was former Governor Mario Cuomo’s Long Island Regional Director, a Brookhaven Town Deputy Supervisor, the State Labor Commissioner’s Representative, and the Field Director for the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery after Hurricane Sandy.

Why I’m running

At a time of real change and transition in the Patchogue-Medford School District, I believe experience and steady leadership matter.
I’m ready on day one. No learning curve. Just a commitment to serve, listen, and contribute.

Mark welcomes the opportunity to hear from voters, answer questions, and continue the conversation about the future of Patchogue-Medford schools.
